Opportunities built our lives

“When an opportunity knocks, open the door”- Anonymous. I strongly believe that a special opportunity only comes once. Opportunities are doors to new and better things, and I decided that I will take every single one of those. I also believe that opportunities build people’s lives and that those define who you are going to be.

            Since I remember, my parents have always told me that, if an opportunity is in front of me I should take it because it would not come back. I grew up thinking about it, and I think that if I do not use an opportunity I will lose a big chance to achieve something. Years ago, when I was in middle school, I had the big opportunity to represent my school on an important competition. At first I felt like it was made especially for me, but when the time was getting closer I get nervous and I decided that I did not wanted to do it. I do not really know why I decided not to take such a big chance but I did. Another student at my school took the opportunity, and he actually almost won, so I realize the mistake that I made and that the person that won could have been me. I think that if I had taken that opportunity my life could have had a slightly change, I do not how but I am sure that something would have been different.

            A single opportunity opens more and more chances.  Now I’m a high school student, and I have the great chance to go to a college for an English Language Intensive program. Since my ESL teachers told me about it and that I could be the one to go, I said to myself that I could not let this awesome opportunity go away. I knew that I had to take it and I did. Now I am sure that I made the right decision because this opportunity can bring me a lot more of chances for my future education. This demonstrates my belief that opportunities build our lives; they decide what we are and what we are going to be.

           

            Opportunities are gifts for our lives, I strongly believe that an opportunity is unique and it will not come back if we o not use it. I do not know when an opportunity will be presented to me but what I know is that I will take it because opportunities are our past, present and future.

3.When I write a personal essay, I think it will be better because it will be unique. It will be unique because it is how I want to do it and no one can do it the same way that I do.If I am personal in my essay it will help me to get a better grade because like I said before, it will be unique.

4. I believe that a special opportunity only comes once.

5. I prefer to start to write my essay with a quote. I think that quotes are interesting and they capture the readers attention.

I will like to continue rearing this essay because I think it is an inspirational essay of perseverance, I think that Brian Grazer  is the kind of person that doesn't give up easily, and that will do everything to make his dreams come true. I will also want to read this essay because I belief it will give me a lesson about life and dreams and opportunities. I strongly belief that it is never too late for anything, and that with perseverance everything is possible and I think that's what the essay is about. 

How I start an essay:
         1. Pick a topic
         2. Think about reasons to support the essay and a hook
         3.Write the introduction and the body paragraphs
         4.Make the conclusion
         5.Come up with a tittle

The Real Me

Katherine Bowman - Springfield, Illinois

On Katherine Bowman's essay she believes that makeup is a mask to hide someone's personality, so she does not wear makeup. She wants people to look at her and see who she really is, she said that she feels comfortable wearing no makeup. She also said that she had the desire to wear makeup but at the end she just decided that it wasn't for her'

I liked her essay because it shows that she wants to be herself and she wants others to know her by who she really is. I identify with her because i also do not war makeup, so it is kind of inspirational for me because sometimes I think about  wearing it and trying to hide who I really am, but just like Katherine Bowman, at the end of the day I decide that I am better without makeup because I can get people's first impression of me as who I really am.

Tony Hawk- Do What you Love
         
   Tony Hawk's main point is to show the audience to fight for their dreams, even if people think it is wrong or stupid you should fight for those. He also says that people should do what they like and if they feel comfortable doing something, they should continue doing it. He relates the story of what happened to him, he wanted to be a skater and even tho his teacher said that he would never be successful, he did not listen to his comments,he did not listen to bad comments, and he make money doing what makes him happy.
I personally liked his essay because it is inspirational, he did not give up, so it gave me a lesson that I have to do what makes me happy, and there will be people that will judge you but it is your decision if you want to be successful.

Lesson Learned

Things I have learned in my life...

             

 1. I've learned that you should be yourself and do not try to be someone that you are not. I think people would like you or dislike you by who you are and if someone loves you they would like you anyways. When I was younger I had a friend that was popular and I wanted to be like her but I discovered that people liked me because I was myself, and I decided that I wanted to be different , I wanted to be me.

           

          2. I've learned that when life gives you lemons make lemonade. I think that life gives you  opportunities some better than others but you are the one who decides how to uses those opportunities. If you are optimistic you would get the best of the opportunities. i learned this because I've seen people that are going into something difficult and they see it as the better they can and I just imagine myself in that situation and i think about how I would do. 

             

           3. I've learned that I should be hones. Honesty is the key to a happy life. I learned this because my parent taught me that I should always be honest, that lies are bad and they just damage just life.when someone says a lie even if it is small, it would take to a bigger lie and then a bigger one.

Writing 

            One of the saying that I believe in is the one that says " young people need models, not critics" I believe in this saying because if adults what the youth to be better, they should give the example and not only stand and watch them making the same mistakes that they did in their youth. If society wants a better world , they should start to care more about the models that they are, and teach the youth the right thing to do, to lead the youth for the right path.

One of the sayings that my parents use to say me is was "Don't judge a book by it's cover." I think my parents were right when they told me that because we don't know the person so we should not judge them by how they look. People can be someone on the outside but a very different person on the inside.
